Popular questions and answers about CPV

How does the process for getting a custom paint design work?

Some customers come to us with an idea for artwork, a special color, or a specific graphic, while others ask us to learn a little about their personality and create a unique design based on their individual style. For 50 years, we’ve worked closely with our customers to bring their ideas and visions to life. Through a series of phone calls, emails, or visits, the paint colors and designs are completed.

Is custom paint as durable as my factory paint?

Yes. Our custom paint IS factory paint. We supply painted parts to major manufacturers, as well as unique custom paint work to individuals. Therefore, our finishes are proven and factory spec’d.

Does CPV paint or wrap cars, trucks, etc?

We do not paint or wrap cars, trucks, vans, etc.

Do you sell cans of paint or share formulas?

No, we do not sell cans of paint or share formulas. We are not a paint reseller, and our formulas are proprietary.

How long does a paint job take?

It depends on the complexity of design, season, and current demand. It is best to call for a quick consultation to determine turn-around times. The average is about 4-6 weeks. There is limited annual capacity for custom painting.

How much does it cost?

It depends on many different variables and, with a quick consultation, we can get you a ballpark price, or even a firm quote.

Can I visit the CPV facility?

Yes! We’re proud to have visitors. CPV is not your typical dirty, dusty paint shop. Our shop is clean and bright. Our 60,000 square foot facility and one-of-a-kind showroom are in Franksville, WI, in an easy-to-access business park right off I-94.

Can CPV quote paint repairs by looking at photos of damage?

Absolutely! We create thousands of quotes annually from photos. On rare occasions, we may need to see the part in person, but we will always explain why.

Can CPV expedite paint repairs during on-season riding?

Very often we can, so please share your dilemma and let us see what we can do.

Will I be able to tell where my paint job was repaired?

Our goal is your satisfaction. The challenge of color matching and repairing complex paint jobs can be enormous and, many times, a repair is your only option. Therefore, we will work hard to make your parts look original. If we don’t think that your parts are repairable, for many possible reasons, we will consult with you and help you understand why and your options.

If my motorcycle part is damaged beyond repair, can you paint a replacement?

Yes! We are a Licensed Preferred Provider of Harley-Davidson motorcycle parts that are no longer available through the motor company. That means, if you provide the replacement part, we can replicate the original paint scheme.

Does CPV take complete bikes and disassemble and reassemble?

No, we encourage you to use your trusted and trained dealer or mechanic. Don’t shortcut this step.

Does CPV repair/work on custom paint by other artists/shops?

No, if the bike was painted by another artist/shop it is best to go back to them for any repairs.

Is there an up charge for aftermarket parts?

Yes, because aftermarket parts need to be resurfaced for a proper result.

Do you paint all brands of aftermarket parts?

No. There are only a handful of manufacturers’ products that we will paint. This is because we cannot guarantee our work due to substandard materials and manufacturing methods that some aftermarket companies use.

Can we ship outside of the US?

Yes, absolutely. We have done work for places like France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Australia just to name a few.

Are there any paint repairs, replacement parts, or custom paint you won’t take on?

Of course. Sometimes it is cost-prohibitive to create, repair, or replicate some paint jobs. There are always good reasons for these decisions, and we will explain if this is the case.
